Few Dorset villages can be more photogenic than Abbotsbury, with its thatched cottages, abbey barn, chapel, world-famous swannery and sub-tropical gardens. Visitors to the latter can wander through formal and informal gardens across 8 hectares, discovering the collection of rare and exotic plants. In spring the swannery draws many tourists to see cygnets hatching, although it’s worth visiting any time March – November and was used as a location in one of the Harry Potter films.
