The Cross-channel Connection

The Tour de Manche route crosses the Channel via ferry from six main ports along the route: Roscoff, St Malo, Cherbourg, Plymouth, Poole - adding the pleasure of a sea cruise to that of your bike trip.

The service is provided by two ferry operators: Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries, and the crossing is made even easier with an express service from ‘Cherbourg to Poole’ or on a mini cruise liner with a night crossing.

The ferry linking Weymouth to Jersey is currently suspended. The Jersey-Poole connection is operational throughout the whole year.

With South West Trains you can carry your bike in the train from Weymouth to Poole.

It is also possible to carry folding bicycles on the Jurassic Coaster X55 Bus Service Weymouth - Poole.

Possible alternative: Boat connection Jersey Barneville-Carteret, then connection to bike (26 km) to find the route to la Haye-du-Puits in the department of "La Manche". Download link Barneville-La-Haye-du-Puits

  • The vessels are comfortable and fitted with anti-roll devices
  • On board you can find shops, cafés and restaurants as well as cabins - air conditioned on some of the Brittany Ferries
  • Boarding and bike parking on-board is shared with motorbikes.
  • Take care on the metal access ramps when boarding and disembarking as they may be slippery!

In Roscoff

The ferry terminal is located approximately 1 km from the town centre.
