Jersey

[ Cycle routes Tour de Manche ]
  • 62 km

Jersey is the most southerly of the British Channel Islands, the sun shines and the weather is mild. The cycle routes are perfect, you don’t see much traffic and everywhere is close. As a frontline outpost between Britain and France, Jersey has a unique history and heritage. Here road names are in French but everyone speaks English, Michelin-starred chefs rub shoulders in Fish and Chip shops, and within half an hour of leaving the office the fund managers are on their surfboards.

The 4 stages of the section « Jersey »

  • St-Helier La Corbiere -Jersey

St-Helier La Corbiere -Jersey [11.5 km]

This is an easy stage, because apart from a very short stretch of road, it is an entirely car-free route all the way to La Corbiere. The eachside cycle track is level to the picturesque St.Aubin’s Village, and only climbs very gently once on the track bed of the old Jersey railway company.

  • La Corbiere Greve de Lecq - Jersey

La Corbiere Greve de Lecq - Jersey [12.5 km]

An invigorating descent leads onto a section of sandy path, then the road runs parallel to the island’s biggest beach at St.Ouen’s Bay, and heads north by way of a stiff short climb. Once on high ground, ancient country lanes and a final brisk descent takes us into the bay at Greve de Lecq.

  • Greve de Lecq Mont Orgueil Castle - Jersey

Greve de Lecq Mont Orgueil Castle - Jersey [25 km]

As the route meanders along the north coast cliff tops, we can clearly see the coast of France and the other Channel Islands. This stage is undulating, with an occasional visit into a secluded bay or harbour. Our reward is a breathtaking panorama of Mont Orgueil Castle and the Royal Bay of Grouville.

  • Mont Orgueil Castle St-Helier - Jersey

Mont Orgueil Castle St-Helier - Jersey [11.3 km]

We leave the sea at Gorey and return inland, passing cultivated fields, cattle and historic farmsteads. The countryside here is flat, although we do have one shady hill before we see St.Helier below us in the distance. The last few kilometres are flat, with the last kilometre on a shared cycleway.
